Why TEENS Wear Makeup
("Wearing").
Teenagers wear makeup for all kinds of reasons. One reason could be a sense of style. Teens wearing makeup is a constant drive to have a sense of individuality, and wanting to belong with society or a group of friends. Celebrities tend to have a major role in why teens wear makeup because many young girls are trying to emulate their favorite stars who are usually older than them (Dean). Some like to feel and have a more mature look ("Latest"). They could even see their friends do it, and they don't want to be left out. Although some teens wish to distinguish themselves from the rest of the crowd, but most definitely not too much. Insecurity is a problem with why teens need make up. Sometimes it’s to impress a boy or even to just feel pretty. Going into high school mostly every girl will be wearing some form of make up to cover up acne or facial imperfections (Dean). An article in Newsweek says that a girl getting into makeup has gone from 17 to 14 in the last four years ("Makeup"). Being a teenager is obviously a difficult and crazy time in life. No teen wants to feel ugly or insecure, but unfortunately sometimes it's difficult for them to not go finding something wrong to point out. If hiding behind the makeup helps, most teens will do it. Even if it means that the makeup will make it worse. Hiding away the ugly and putting on the pretty is what teens think they must do in order to feel like people aren't constantly staring at them ("Makeup").
